Lobster Mushrooms

 
Fresh Lobster Mushrooms or Hypomyces Lactifluorum are in season between Late July and October. They are a late summer- fall mushroom. The lobster mushroom is cream colored inside and the shell is lobster red, hence the name, they have an aroma of seafood. This mushrooms has a firm -crunchy texture, slightly nutty and mild flavor. Use in stir fry, gravies, soups and terrine. The lobster mushrooms does not taste like lobster, but some say have a mild seafood flavor.
This is a perishable item and it must be refrigerated upon arrival. We suggest putting them into a strainer in the product compartment in your refrigerator. Do not store in plastic, they need air circulation. We also carry dried lobster mushrooms
