These are Grade 2 Morels, they do not look nice at all, and are broken or missing the tops. Please understand we offer these at a lower cost because they taste the same as a grade 1, but they are not acceptable in appearance for a grade 1.
Morels, also known as Morchella, sponge mushroom, pinecone mushroom and more are a delicacy with many uses; fried, stuffed and baked, added to sauces, sautéed, stir fried and many other uses. The dried morel reconstitutes very well, coming back to it’s original form very well. It takes 8-10 pounds of fresh morels to make 1 pound of dried.
To Reconstitute: Soak in a cup of warm water or liquid per ounce of dried morels for 20 minutes or overnight. When they are fully reconstituted, strain through a coffee filter or paper towel and retain the liquid for your recipe or future use. Rinse well to remove any debris and pat dry and use.
